The herd mentality is a concept that takes many shapes and forms, at its essence it refers to the convergent social behaviour in the form of thoughts or actions amongst a group of people generally gravitating towards negative outcomes, as people think less about their actions. This tendency is a result of the individuals binding together through a popular belief/action amongst the group as they are provided with a stage and an audience, allowing them to act against socially accepted norms.
Simply put, when people gather together more often than not they become what society sees as a dickhead.
A Social Issue?
“If we had to earn our age by thinking for ourselves at least once a year, only a handful of people would reach adulthood.”
Ultimately the herd mentality limits our ability to think individually and in turn impairs our judgement. This attributes to various other problems such as bullying and violent behaviour as a psychological frame, and there is a lack of information surrounding this issue that is fundamentally carried across all disciplines of life.
So lets get the word out to tuck away the dicks.
Remember boys and girls- big groups don’t have big dicks.
